Evaluating Usability of Human-Computer Interfaces: A Practical Method, Ellis Horwood Books in Information Technology

Author: Susannah J. Ravden, Graham I. Johnson
Abstract: This book describes a practical method for the evaluation of human-computer interfaces, with the aim of assessing 'usability' of computer-based application systems, both during and after development.
It is based on a practical tool, in the form of a checklist, which can be used to evaluate user interfaces both during and after design and development. There is a comprehensive instruction on the use of the checklist and further case studies illustrate the way the method has been used in a number of different settings. The method, and in particular the nature of the checklist, enables an interface to be evaluated by a variety of people , with differing expertise and backgrounds, including, for example, interface designers and other technical experts, and, most importantly, representative end.users, who will actually use the system in practice.
The book is aimed primarily at those people who are directly involved in the design, development and evaluation of human-computer application system interfaces, and in assessing usability.
