Author: Phil Blythe
Abstract: In the DISTINCT project the spheres of interest are Rural and Urban, Elderly and Disabled, Transport, Environment, Healthcare and Libraries.
The DISTINCT Consortium comprises many of the leading industries and institutions in Europe in specific telematics fields with users and service providers. The Consortium contains 22 public bodies, agencies and city/regional authorities who are committed to providing the citizens and users of their services enhanced quality and choice of service using new telematics means not just for a single sector but offering a wide range of complimentary services. A specific user group on travel and traffic demand management solutions will be established.
The active involvement of disabled and older users in DISTINCT will begin to bear fruit in terms of better products, services and technical quality in the development process. DISTINCT will bring different actors together to ensure that cross-sector applications are developed in a way which address the needs of the various sectors.
