Abstract: The COBRA-3 (Cooperation within Bureau, Research and Administration) project was set up by the Fraunhofer Institut für Graphische Datenverarbeitung IGD to test and realize multimedia and cooperative teleworking systems. One kind of such applications can be a virtual supermarket, a catalogue or shopping environment, which is released as a CD.
A demonstrator version of the different tele-services was tested by 16 users with various impairments at the Forschungsinstitut Technologie-Behindertenhilfe (FTB). These users were asked to answer a questionnaire for each application and to report about their experiences about the usability and usefullness of the single electronical services. By this method a direct comparison between 3 approaches (Web-based catalogue, i.e. virtual railway-museum, CD-based shopping catalogue, CD-based virtual supermarket) was possible.
