Further comments during planning:

The project scope (problem, issues, potential solutions), potential partners and potential funding is already indentified. Now it needs to be transferred and fixed into a plan.

With regard to user participation one should be aware that:

  • A partner able to organise the participation is needed.
  • One should allocate enough time, labour and funding to this task. Accessibility still has a price in our environment.
  • User participation sometimes needs more time than one expects. It makes sense to give time to get to know each other, to build trust and common ground. Please note if you work with people from volunteering organisations, that they might not be accustomed to your working style. Please always look for win-win agreements, i.e. users participation need also a concrete benefit from the cooperation (altruism is often not enough if it comes to do work).
  • A user forum during the first phase of the project can be very helpful.
  • User participation is intended to have impact on the project result. Hence decision points and loops should be already planned. One should expect the need for change and iteration and be able to react with appropriate flexibility.
