Further comments during initiation:

  • It is of highest importance to clearly identify and agree on the set of problem or issues, which shall be solved or improved during the project. This is often a process where users can provide very valuable input.
  • A second step is to think of potential solutions, in terms of technologies, innovate applications and services. Again it is important to check with users, if these ideas can meet the expectations.
  • This is now the stage to reconsider the composition of the consortium. Do partners provide the right expertise? Is there a good mixture of R&D, industries, users? Do partners have exploitation potential? It is important to get to know the partners to be on the save side.
  • Meet with people face to face to prepare a good and trustful ground for cooperation.
  • Depending on the stage of your process think of signing a non-disclosure agreement.
During the initiation many different methods for participation can be useful. Creativity processes are settings for finding novel solutions to defined problems, involving several individuals in interactive and free processes, without any barriers. Sometimes also questionnaires, interviews or group discussions are helpful. For problem identification a task analysis can help to decompose the task to highlight the underlying issues.
