Further comments during carrying out the project:

User participation is intended to have impact on the project result. Hence decision points and loops should have been already planned. One should expect the need for change and iteration. One should not worry to react flexible on necessary changes.

  • A user forum during the first phase of the project can be very helpful (to build trust and partnership, to level out different expactations, to create consortium spirit). Enough time shall be reserved for a good start.
  • Appropriate methods for participation depending on the project stage should be used.
  • Is user responsibility and influence balanced and respected in the project?
  • Partnership is not just a saying, it needs to be lived and worked out.
  • Control the budget lines and timing of the user participation.
  • Are the planned accessibility features implemented and really sufficient?
